New Textiles work

I really want to develop some large scale work involving textiles. After teaching the subject for many years I love fabrics and colour. But I have always struggled with the neatness and formality of some of the traditional techniques. I have become less patient and as everyone knows I am messy. So the textiles I produce is always a bit messy and unfinished. Any way, I have taught the techniques of Mola work or reverse appliqué for a long time. I love the element of surprise, you never know what you are going to get. So I am developing the technique to create some Cloth Ears artwork.  This  piece was created using some scrap materials and a sewing machine set to free machining so you can basically draw.   Not sure what cloth ears thinks !!!!!IMG_4187.JPG

Holiday sketches

While chilling out in Malaga I got  the chance to work on a few Cloth Ears ideas.  Just using pencil crayon and a trusted black pen, I didn’t take a sketchbook,  just a few loose sheets…..

Introducing a new character…. Hammy the Mining Mole.  Not sure where he’s going but hares are not like rabbits they don’t go underground.

Working on a few Christmas card designs….. watch out for developments
